A High-Throughput Photon Processing Technique for Range Extension of SPAD-Based LiDAR Receivers

چکیده

There has recently been a keen interest in developing Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) systems using Single Photon Avalanche Diode (SPAD) sensors. This led to variety of implementations pixel combining techniques Time Digital Converter (TDC) architectures for such paper presents comparison these approaches demonstrates technique capable extending the range LiDAR with improved resilience background conditions. A system emulator reconfigurable SPAD array FPGA interface is used compare different techniques. Monte Carlo simulation model leveraging synthetic 3D data presented visualize sensor performance on realistic automotive scenes.
